By Order No. 22 of the Minister of Popular Education dated January 12, 1991, the structure of the Computer Engineering Faculty (which had been part of TIS) was reorganized, and the “Electronics” department at MTS and the “Automation-Electronics” department at KTMS were established — this is considered the founding of the Electronics branch. Over the course of its historical development, the departments' names, structure, and composition changed several times, and in 2014 the professor teams of “Electronic Engineering”, “Digital Signal Processing and Microprocessor Engineering”, and “Computer Engineering” were merged to form and expand today's Electronics Department.
Since its establishment, the department has trained national-level specialists in Automation-Electronics. The “Information Measurement Electronics” program was accredited in 2009, the “Computer-Controlled Systems” program in 2010 (by its former names), and the “Electronics” program in 2019. As of the 2024-2025 academic year, the department has 6 Ph.D. faculty, 10 master's-degree faculty, and 2 training masters — 18 professors, lecturers, and staff in total. As of the 2024-2025 academic year, the department offers programs at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels as follows.
Bachelor's level:
- Electronics Engineering program
- Robotics and Artificial Intelligence program.
Master's level: Electronics Engineering
Doctoral level:Electronics Engineering
As of the 2024-2025 academic year, the department has 218 students at the bachelor's level, 32 at the master's level, and 2 at the doctoral level actively enrolled.
