Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology /ABET/
The Telecommunications Engineering Technology and Wireless Communications Engineering Technology programs of MUST's School of Information and Communication Technology became the first programs in Mongolia to be internationally accredited by the US-based ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) for a 6-year term.
ABET has been accrediting educational programs for 85 years and is the world's most prestigious international accreditation organization. As of October 2018, it had accredited more than 3,850 programs at over 780 colleges and universities in 32 countries.
The Mongolian government's education policy set a target that "by 2024, no fewer than 20 priority higher and vocational education programs shall be internationally accredited." The Ministry of Education has financially supported international accreditation of 7 programs. Currently, 5 programs from NUM, MNUMS, and MUST have been successfully internationally accredited.
International accreditation means students' and graduates' diplomas in those programs are fully recognized in the corresponding countries, opening broad opportunities to continue advanced studies and work in their profession. It also creates conditions for international recognition of Mongolia's higher education.
