Department of Cyber Security

We are working to train specialists who have the high knowledge and skills to quickly solve issues in computer networks and cybersecurity, with the drive to advance in their profession and keep learning throughout their career; who can demonstrate professional competence in knowledge-intensive jobs; who always model high ethical standards and can work in teams; and who have the knowledge and skills to apply, develop, and localize constantly evolving technological advances.

This department was founded under the name “Information Networks Professor Team” by Order No. 196 of the MUST Rector dated September 20, 2002, and first began bachelor's-level training in the “Information Networks” major. Since 2016 it entered its current organizational form as the Department of Information Networks and Security. From June 2025, it has been operating under the name Cybersecurity Department.

As of the 2025-2026 academic year, the department has 9 faculty with doctoral degrees, 7 with master's degrees, 2 training masters — 18 professors, lecturers, and staff in total. In the 2021-2022 academic year, 427 students are actively enrolled at the bachelor's level and 13 at the master's level. As of the 2022-2023 academic year, more than 400 students have graduated with bachelor's degrees. The Information Networks program was domestically accredited in 2012 and 2019, the “System Security” program in 2019, and the “Cybersecurity, Computer Networks” program in 2024.
