Program goals
Train engineers responsible for information-and-communications engineering-technology operations of telecom operators, mobile operators, large mining companies, banks, and government organizations — performing network planning, expansion and modernization, generating information-communication system solutions, and providing operation and services.
By completing the Telecommunications Engineering program, students acquire foundational knowledge and skills in communications, electronics, information technology, and software, and specialize in IP-based communication network technology and advanced communication technologies based on optical (fiber) cables, earning a bachelor's degree.
The Telecommunications Engineering program was the first program in Mongolia accredited by the National Council for Educational Accreditation in 2004, and was re-accredited for the 2nd time in 2009 and for the 3rd time in 2019. It was also accredited by the ABET organization of the United States in 2018, becoming the first internationally accredited program in Northeast Asia.
This program has been implementing the CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate) engineering education standard and methodology — adopted at more than 140 universities worldwide — since 2014.
